THE ANDE BOMBER

This natural plant dyed, 8 wale, chunky corduroy bomber jacket has been thoughtfully designed for comfort and feel, as well as style and functionality.

Hand dyed using organically certified plant extracts, it has a contrasting coloured rib cuff, collar and waistband, and is fully lined in a luscious bamboo silk, making it feel beautiful to put on. The cheeky puff sleeves are cut with 2 shaped pieces for a more flattering and less bulky fit.

Designed for you to be able to go out without a bag, there are 2 comfortable front welt pockets for your hands and 2 large inside patch pockets for your belongings, which fasten with a neat little red corozo nut button.

Launching with 5 natural dyed colours (with contrasting rib) in 5 sizes.

COLOURS

The Ande Bomber comes in 5 colour combinations:

Dusky pink + yellow

Light indigo + sloe berry

Indigo blue + teal

Madder red + lilac

Caramel + light indigo

Understand that although carefully colour matched, there will be slight variations in colour between the photographs viewed on your screen and also between each jacket - the fabric lengths are hand dyed using natural dye pigments - making yours all the more unique. Each batch of plant extract can vary due to climatic conditions and soil, a difference in fabric fibres influence the final hue, as well as other variables.

This is slow considered fashion, not mass produced fast fashion or fast luxury. They are made with the health of you the wearer, of people and planet in mind.

HOW TO ORDER

MADE-TO-ORDER | LIMITED EDITIONS

The Ande Bomber is available for made-to-order, there may also be some sizes and colours Ready-To-Wear. Please check the other product pages.

A limited edition of just 50 will be made of each colour combination of jacket, each signed and numbered by Sarah Poland. After ordering you will be assigned the next edition number available eg 12/50 and will be notified when the jacket goes into production and when you can expect to receive it.

You can order at the bottom of the page and select a size and colour.

When selecting a Made-To-Order jacket, you can also choose to purchase the Zero Waste Bag at the same time and have it colour matched exactly. If ordered another time, a colour match cannot be guaranteed.

All garments by Sarah Poland are hand dyed and hand made in the UK.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

Garments will take 6-8 weeks, possibly a shorter time. I will be putting up a link for an option to expedite the production (at a cost). If you would like to enquire about this please get in touch.

I make these jackets one at a time and made-to-order so that there is no over production. This helps to ensure high standards of sustainability and ethics.

MATERIALS

All of the materials used in Sarah Poland garments are very carefully sourced with people and planet as the utmost priority. Many of the materials used are certified organic, with an intention to work towards them all being organic, with some also regenerative. The long term goal (actually as near a future as possible) is for Sarah Poland to be organically (GOTS) certified.

Materials used in the Ande Bomber:

OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certified cotton corduroy

OCIA certified organic 100% bamboo silk lining

GOTS certified organic 95% cotton 5% elastane rib

Recycled plastic zip (to help clear ocean plastic) and the thread is made from recycled polyester.

Hand dyed using GOTS certified organic non-toxic plant colours. Read more about what NATURAL DYES are here.

Sizes currently available are: UK 8, 10, 12, 14, 16. Please get in touch if you are interested in a different size.

GARMENT CARE

  • Do not leave in direct sunlight - don't forget it and leave it in the sun on the backseat of the car!

  • Hand wash 30C with a pH neutral soap.

  • Iron on medium heat.

  • Do not rub or bleach.

  • Avoid tumble dry + direct heat.

  • Wash less.

Look after your clothes.

We do accept returns for online orders for Made-to-Order and Ready-to-Ship, Limited edition garments.

If you try a garment on for size at an event, we will help you to get it right as there will be no exchange if you order the wrong size.

Consideration:

Please consider that these are made-to-order garments and that returns do take their toll and impact small business’.

Worldwide, approximately 17 billion items of clothing are returned annually. This is equal to 4.7 million metric tons of CO2 emitted every year.All packaging returned with an order must be recycled or disposed of. This typically becomes a part of the 300,000 tonnes of retail-associated waste found in UK landfills every year.

Wrong Size:

If not at an event and ordering online, and you order the wrong size, you can return your garment to exchange it for a different size, but unfortunately, you will have to wait for the production time again.

Customer pays return costs and we recommend a tracked and signed for courier for safe return, SARAH POLAND cannot be responsible if your order gets lost in transit.

Colour:

Quality Control:

If your goods are faulty, we are very sorry and will offer a full refund, exchange or credit note and will cover the cost of shipping. Hopefully they won’t be faulty, they are stringently checked.

Your order must meet these conditions:

Items must be returned within 14 days of purchase, please contact us to let us know you are returning an item.

The item is returned unused with tags still attached. 

Items must be make-up and perfume free, so please take care when trying them on. 

We recommend a tracked courier for safe return, SARAH POLAND cannot be responsible if your order gets lost in transit. 

TRANSPARENCY

DESIGNED: Designed, pattern cut and dyed in the Sarah Poland studio in Wales. Test worn around the country.

FABRIC:

CORDUROY: 100% cotton from Brisbane Moss. CERTIFICATION: Oeko-Tex100. ORIGIN - Cotton yarn: China. Woven: Czech Republic. Natural dyed: Wales, UK.

BAMBOO SILK LINING: 100% organic bamboo CERTIFICATION: OCIA (or NOP for USA) and OEKO TEX Standard 100. From sustainably managed forests (FSC certified). It is manufactured from 2-3 year old bamboo plants in an environmentally friendly closed loop system.  Bamboo is a breathable and naturally antibacterial fabric. ORIGIN: Sichuan (bamboo grown) and Hebei (fabric manufactured), China. 

RIB: Organic 95% cotton 5% elastane rib. ORIGIN: Turkey.

DYE: GOTS certified organic natural dye plant extracts. Origin: Hand dyed at the Sarah Poland dye shack using P.V. solar panels for electricity, some rainwater harvested and water use minimised and recycled to use at least more than once.

THREAD: 100% cotton. CERTIFICATION: GOTS, also Coats Epic Ecoverde, 77% recycled polyester thread from PET bottles and other post-consumer waste.

ZIP: Vilson by YKK, using Natulon from recycled PET bottles and other post-consumer waste (to help clear ocean plastic).

BUTTONS: Corozo nut, made in the last natural button factory in the UK. Coloured with Oeko-tex standard 100 & AZO free certified button dyes.

LABELS: Printed with OEKO-TEX100 certified, water-based ink on 100% cotton in Wales. CERTIFICATION of cotton: OEKO-TEX100 ORIGIN of cotton: China - delivered by sea/road. The label supplier in Wales’ energy supply from thier own solar and green energy tariff (their cotton labels are responsible for approximately 30x fewer CO2 emissions than if they were printed in China and shipped by air).

PRODUCTION:  Cut, sewn, trimmed, in London.

DELIVERY: Free. We use Airbox - the UK’s first Carbon Neutral fulfilment facility. With over 200 solar panels on their roof, their site produces 212.10kWp of energy, saving 67000kw and 93.37 tonnes of Co2 a year.

CERTIFICATIONS AND THEIR DEFINITIONS:

GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) has a clearly defined set of criteria and is transparent. They are the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, environmental criteria, backed by 3rd-party certification of all processing stages. They assess to the strictest standards and criteria for ethics and sustainability.

Having one common standard means textile processors and manufacturers can export their fabrics and garments with one organic certification that is accepted in all major markets. This transparency also gives consumers the power to choose truly organic products sourced from green supply chains.

OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 is a label for textiles tested for harmful substances. It sets the benchmark for textile safety, from yarn to finished product. Every item bearing the STANDARD 100 label is certified as having passed safety tests for the presence of harmful substances.

OCIA (Organic Crop Improvement Association) is a member-owned, non-profit organisation that provides research, education and certification services to organic growers, processors and handlers worldwide. OCIA certifies and verifies to various programs, such as USDA, EU, JAS and Bio Suisse, and has regional and chapter offices in several countries.
